H2O Xtream to temporarily close in preparation for the new UV system
Upper Hutt’s H2O Xtream aquatic centre will close for 5 days in October to prepare for the installation of a new UV water treatment system.
UPPER HUTT, Wellington NZ, 12 SEP 2013—The community spoke, and Upper Hutt City Council listened. In the latest round of Council’s Annual Plan consultation, one project up for feedback was the installation of a UV water treatment system at Upper Hutt’s aquatic leisure centre, H2O Xtream. The concept received amazing support, with a 500+ signature submission in favour of the project. The project is now moving forward, in preparation for a sizzling summer season.
H2O Xtream needs to prepare for the installation of the system that will change the entire atmosphere of the pool, including clearer and less chlorinated water and air. First, the pool needs to close for five working days, from Monday 14 to Friday 18 October. This short closure will make it possible to get the pool plant room ready for the UV system installation, which should be in place before Christmas.
Council’s Recreation Services Manager, Rachel Jury says, “We are excited to be able to deliver this improvement that the public were so keen to see. We truly apologize for any inconvenience this brief but necessary closure may cause in the short term, but please know that it is for the greater good. We, as a community, will be even more proud of Upper Hutt’s feature aquatic facility. ”
