Delays on Durham Street – morning peak
A new work site, established near the St Asaph Street intersection on Durham has required a reduction in available lanes through this area and as a result caused delays for road users this morning (Monday 25 November).
Where possible, road users should consider alternative routes south such as Barbadoes Street, particularly in morning peak times, or alternatively allow more time for the journey or consider different travel times.
Traffic light signal phasing has been adjusted to allow for the reduction in lanes and the Christchurch Transport Operations (CTOC) Centre staff will monitor the area.
In order to assist the flow of traffic through these areas, road users are reminded to ‘merge like a zip’ where lanes come together.
This allows the full length of available lanes to be utilised and assists with the efficient flow of traffic.
