Napier Cemetery Walks are back for 2014 by popular demand!
MTG’s popular Tours of the Napier Hill Cemetery
return for another summer season.
Join MTG Curator of
Archives Gail Pope and award winning New Zealand author
Peter Wells on a guided tour and discover the stories of
some of Napier’s early colonists, from the famous to the
infamous.
Hear tales of tragedy - from falling under a train after a high spirited picnic, to dying from fumes on a burning ship. See the elaborate tomb of a poisoned wife created by a guilty husband and the simple totara grave stones raised by friends to the departed.

Funds go towards purchase of the works
for the Hawke's Bay Museums Trust collection and the Napier
Hill Cemetery planting project.
