Southern Institute of Technology international students from China gathered at the SIT Hansel Hall on Friday for a seminar given to the students by members of the Chinese Consulate. Mr Charlie Lu and Mr Alex Jiang explained the services and support the consulate, based in Christchurch, could offer them. The consulate members also spent time with the students renewing their passports.
Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics (ITP) Manager for Education New Zealand Mr Jason Matangi also spoke to the students during the seminar. He commended them for deciding to study at SIT saying “I want to congratulate you for choosing to study at SIT. I have had a look around the facilities today and you have chosen to study at one of the best ITP’s in the country. The staff are also terrific and really care about your welfare”.
His Worship the Mayor of Invercargill Tim Shadbolt and SIT Chief Executive Penny Simmonds also met with the constituents.
