HURRAH! Financial support for Desexy Revolution is totally LUSH!

The Humane Rescue, Rehabilitation & Rehoming (HURRAH) Trust are celebrating after LUSH Cosmetics chose to make a significant donation to their Desexy Revolution. This programme offers free spaying and neutering services to all Auckland dog owners holding a Community Service Card.

LUSH's Charity Pot funds small, grassroots groups working in the areas of the environment, human rights and animal protection, and particularly those who strive to create change by addressing the root cause of a problem.

LUSH's Lola Figuero feels that HURRAH's Desexy Revolution was a great choice for funding. "We believe it's an effective grassroots plan of action with a focus on education and creating awareness around the importance of desexing pets."

HURRAH trustee Chrissy Clements confirms that education is a crucial part of the Desexy Revolution. "There are so many excellent reasons to have a dog desexed," she says. As one of many rescues on the frontline, HURRAH hope that LUSH's valuable contribution will have a huge impact on numbers next season. "It should also help us see a reduction in euthanasia rates at the pounds," comments Chrissy. "Then, as impoundment numbers start to fall, we should see a higher ratio of dogs going to loving forever homes. What a wonderful day that will be!" she adds.

HURRAH's Desexy Revolution previously won praise from Auckland Council's Animal Management, who described it as a "proactive 'fencing of the cliff' initiative", and "an essential component of the long term solution to animal welfare."
