SH1 and SH14 road surface improvements start next
week
The NZ Transport Agency says motorists
should allow extra time for their journey as road surface
improvements at several state highway locations in Northland
are due to get underway this month.
Contractors will begin significant repairs to the road seal on SH1 through Kaiwaka, SH1 Hikurangi and SH14 south west of Maungatapere, with the first works to begin next Monday (9 November).
The maintenance work will involve some single lane closures while other repairs will be carried out at night to minimise disruption to traffic.
“We will have traffic management in place to minimise delays, but motorists should take extra care through these works and factor extra journey times into their plans,” says the Transport Agency’s Acting Northland Highway Manager, Tim Crow.
“This is an important part of maintaining the reliability and safety of these highways for all road users, and we thank drivers for being patient while we carry out this work”.
