Wellington’s Richter City Roller Derby – Home Season Game 2

Wellington’s Richter City Roller Derby – Home Season Game 2 - Brutal Pageant vs Comic Slams

On Saturday 2nd July Richter City Roller Derby (RCRD) will have its second home season round robin game between 2015’s champion Brutal Pageant and Comic Slams at the Kilbirnie Rec Centre. This is the second of four home season bouts; Smash Malice also still have to play Comic Slams on3 September and then the deciding final for 2016 will be held on 24 September.

Brutal Pageant won the first home season bout against Smash Malice on 28 May and is still the league’s home season champions for 2015; however, Comic Slams previously held the title in 2012 and 2013.

This year members of the league were reshuffled within the home teams to ensure variety for the skaters, and new skaters have been added too! This ensures a balance in skill level and preferred track positions so that no one team has an unfair advantage over the others. Skaters in the league train together up to 4 times a week.

For the first time, Richter City is doing a second, mid-year intake of fresh meat within one year; the 10-week course will begin on 22 July and will teach those who wish to enrol everything they need to play the sport of roller derby. RCRD is currently 63 members strong and is always looking for new skaters and officials to join NZ's #1 ranked team.

RCRD's home season continues to be a draw to our fans, so it is recommended that spectators come as early as possible before the bout begins to ensure a seat, especially for the termed ‘suicide seats’ right beside the track for the best up-close derby action. Please note that the first 3 rows of the suicide seating are aged 18+.

Doors open at 6pm, game starts at 7pm – tickets available at: http://www.eventfinda.co.nz/2016/roller-derby-rcrd-comic-slams-vs-brutal-pageant/wellington
