Strong Support for The Cocktail Party Charity Auction
Strong Support for The Cocktail Party
Hawke’s
Bay’s longest running Charity Auction kicked off in style
tonight with a sponsor’s event at Vidals. In it’s 27th
year the event has a new charity to support and the
continued support from its long-term sponsors shows that
it’s a charity worthy of supporting.
Jeff Burson, president of the Hastings Karamu Rotary Club said, “the change in our charity has seen some fantastic new businesses join our sponsorship family and we are excited to see that there are still many of our original sponsors from twenty-six year ago. The event is in a great position for many more years to come”.
The charity, the Sir Graeme Avery’s’ led Hawke’s Bay Community Fitness Centre Trust will deliver not only talented youth sports programmes, but also as importantly, the trust has developed healthy lifestyle programmes of benefit to school age children and adults across the region. The programmes are based on world best evidence and will be delivered in collaboration with the Hawke’s Bay DHB, EIT, Sport Hawke’s Bay and other local agencies. The programmes will be delivered at the new Institute of Sport & Health being built at the Regional Sports Park and also at satellite facilities in Waipukurau and Wairoa.
Sir Graeme Avery said that “We extend our very real thanks to all the sponsors who have made staging the event possible. A huge thanks to them all”. The funds raised from this year’s Cocktail Party will allow programmes to be run at lower decile schools in the region to help ‘Change Lives’ by raising awareness of healthy eating, physical exercise, sport training and development, and individual performance improvement to transform our school kids and help them be the best they can be.
There was a great sense of togetherness in the room, and it’s easy to understand why the sponsors are in partnership with both the Hastings Karamu Rotary team and the team who make up the Hawke’s Bay Community Fitness Trust. “It really is about partnership”, said Jeff, “we are wanting to create a strong sponsorship family and I think that was evidenced tonight. The event is strong, the club is 100% behind it and the Hawkes Bay Community Fitness Centre Trust have been amazing in their support and ideas”.
When an iconic event has a refocus, it’s exciting to see what the result is. When Jeff spoke at the sponsors event, he said “it’s an exciting year, the committee have worked tirelessly to bring together a fantastic night which is promising to be best yet. We have just put tickets on sale today, and we have already sold over 100 tickets, it’s been a great start and evidence that we deliver an enjoyable event for the community, which benefits the community”.
