Fiona Green And Adam Young Pledge Increased Collaboration To Combat Crime In Whangarei
Mayoral candidate Fiona Green along with Whangarei Urban Candidate Adam Young announced their commitment to fostering greater collaboration between Whangarei District Council Councillors and key community safety organisations to proactively address crime concerns and enhance public safety.
Green and Young emphasised the importance of a united front in tackling crime, stating that a more coordinated and engaged approach is crucial for creating a safer Whangarei for all residents.
“We need to leverage the expertise and dedication of organisations like the Police, City Safe, Whangarei Community Patrol, Crime Prevention Coalition (Whangarei), and Vigilant Intel,” said Green. “By actively engaging these groups and working together, Whangarei District Council Councillors can gain a deeper understanding of the issues affecting our communities and develop more effective solutions.”
Green and Young's plan involves establishing stronger communication channels between Councillors and these organisations, encouraging regular dialogue and information sharing. They believe this will enable the Council to be more responsive to community needs and ensure resources are directed where they are most needed.
“This is not about duplicating efforts, but rather about creating a more cohesive and collaborative environment where everyone is working together towards a common goal: a safer and more secure Whangarei,” Young concluded. “By actively engaging with our local crime prevention organisations, we can build a stronger, more resilient community for all." Adam Young is a Senior member of Whangarei Community Patrol whose experience spans 14 years. Fiona Green founded Crime Prevention Coalition Whangarei and Vigilant Intel.
