Metallica Fans Join Forces With Meet The Need To Tackle Food Insecurity In New Zealand

Metallica’s charitable foundation, All Within My Hands (AWMH), is teaming up with New Zealand charity Meet the Need to deliver a unique volunteer food packing event that will put the spotlight on one of the country’s fastest-growing challenges – food insecurity.

This unique, one-off event will bring together 50 Metallica fans to pack food parcels for Kiwi families in need, combining the passion of music fans with the generosity of New Zealand farmers.

This opportunity was made possible by CNH, a global leader in agricultural and construction equipment, which, through its Case IH brand, has partnered with Meet the Need and nominated them as the charity partner for AWMH’s New Zealand tour, recognising the strong alignment between AWMH’s focus on hunger relief and the work of Meet the Need within the New Zealand farming community.

Who All Within My Hands Is

Founded in 2017 by members of Metallica, the All Within My Hands Foundation is dedicated to creating sustainable communities by supporting workforce education, fighting hunger, and providing critical local services. The foundation has donated millions of dollars worldwide to tackle food insecurity, fund scholarships, and deliver aid to vulnerable communities.

Who Meet the Need Is

Meet the Need is a farmer-led charity working to change the face of food security in New Zealand. Farmers donate livestock or milk, which is processed and distributed to foodbanks and community organisations nationwide, ensuring high-quality, locally sourced protein reaches the people who need it most. Since its inception in 2020, through livestock and cash donations, Meet the Need has provided the equivalent of over 3 million meals across the country.

Why This Matters

Food insecurity is an issue affecting a growing number of New Zealanders, from young families to older Kiwis struggling with rising living costs. In the past year alone, foodbanks have reported record demand, with thousands more families seeking help each week. By joining forces, All Within My Hands and Meet the Need are raising awareness of this hidden issue, highlighting the role farmers play in feeding the nation, and showcasing the power of community-driven solutions.

Zellara Holden, General Manager of Meet the Need said this event is a powerful reminder of why causes like this matter. “It’s incredibly special to have the support of Metallica’s foundation, All Within My Hands. Right now, 1 in 4 children in New Zealand are going hungry, and we need to shine a light on this reality. By bringing fans, farmers, and our community together, we can make a real impact and turn fan power into a force for good.”

This volunteer event will make a tangible difference for families doing it tough. Spots are limited – fans can sign up and be part of something special: https://meettheneed.org.nz/metallica-awmh-volunteer-signup-page/
