Disruptions To Some Metro Services On Wednesday 22 April
Due to a driver union meeting, Ōtautahi Christchurch residents may experience bus service disruptions on Wednesday 22 April 2026.
The following routes will be affected from 9am to 2pm:
- Route 3 Airport or Sheffield Cres/Sumner
- Route 8 Port-to-Port
- Route 140 Russley/Mt Pleasant
- Route 155 Eastgate/Lyttelton Shopper Service
School services will not be affected.
Customers should be aware some trips may end at the city bus interchange from around 9am as drivers prepare to attend the meeting.
Ritchies, the operator whose drivers are involved in this meeting, has worked to ensure the remaining routes it services will be unaffected. We expect affected routes to be operating as usual by 2pm.
Each operator’s bus drivers can attend up to two annual union meetings a year, as per their collective agreement, and this is one of them.
We apologise for the inconvenience and recommend customers plan ahead if they are travelling on public transport on this day.
Thank you for your patience. Affected trips will be removed from our live information on go.metro.co.nz and at bus stops.
Updates will be posted to the Metro Facebook page or metro.co.nz.
