Activate Technologies Expands Management Team

Activate Technologies Expands Management Team to Develop US Market

Press release, 20-Jun-07, Activate Technologies, Auckland, New Zealand: Activate Technologies, a rapidly growing and innovative technology company that specializes in automated IT service support software for the enterprise, has appointed former Microsoft Enterprise specialist, Bruce Chamberlin, as Business Development Manager for Australasia. The new position frees up Director Shaun Blackmore to concentrate efforts on the company’s US market development strategy.

The company, whose flagship provisioning software product ‘Activate’ is already achieving significant benefits for some of NZ’s leading corporations, is presently in discussions with a number of solution providers in the U.S and Canada

Bruce Chamberlin joins the company from Microsoft to manage sales and business development in Australasia and play a key role in the company’s expansion.

Bruce brings to Activate considerable knowledge of computer enterprise systems. His most recent position at Microsoft, where he worked for 14 years, was as Enterprise Technology Architect - helping to reduce operational costs for enterprise customers through infrastructure optimization. Prior to that he was the Principal Consultant for Microsoft Consulting Services where he worked closely with Microsoft in the US on the development and global release of Microsoft Zero Touch solution, now known as Business Desktop Deployment (BDD). Before then he was a Technical Specialist and assisted with the launch of Windows NT, 3.1 and 95.

When Bruce met Shaun a few years ago he immediately recognized the potential of Activate which Shaun was developing at that time. He says, “It was clear to me back then that Activate would have a unique position in the world’s self-provisioning market, as it enables CIO’s to automate and delegate common IT admin tasks across the enterprise without complex and costly implementation.”

“For most enterprises the human and financial costs of managing the demand for tech support is overwhelming. This is because as much as 70% of IT support time is spent processing everyday manual administration – such as setting up new users, administering password requests, managing group lists and directories, and so on. Activate is an attractive and cost-effective solution for large organisations to implement because it advances their Microsoft Active Directory implementation and allows them to automate tasks. The result is less time spent on help desk support,” he says.

As the new Business Development Manager for New Zealand and Australia Bruce will be concentrating on the region’s top 1000 enterprises and is already working on a number of enquiries. His appointment frees up Shaun’s time to focus on the US.

“With most corporate IT support teams around the world stretched to the max with inefficient support systems, the potential market for our product is considerable”, says Shaun, “We recently attended a four day HDI conference in Las Vegas and walked away with over 150 quality leads that we are now following up. Having Bruce and his expertise on board is pivotal to the success of Activate and our export strategy.”

Bruce Chamberlin, who is married with three daughters, has over 20 years ICT industry experience under his belt and an Engineering Degree (BE Ag) from Canterbury University. Prior to joining Activate Technologies and Microsoft he worked for Digital Equipment Corporation and the Canterbury Regional Council in Christchurch. In his spare time he is a volunteer Youth Work Coordinator in his local rural area of Clevedon.

About Activate Technologies (www.activatelive.com)

Activate Technologies Ltd, established in May 2006, has developed a modular software application called ‘Activate’ that automates and delegates to business users common computer tasks which would normally require help desk support – such as setting up new users, provisioning new hardware or software, password resets, and management of group lists and directories.

By allowing users to request and approve IT services online Activate enables CIOs to reduce helpdesk and IT department workload, improve user satisfaction and achieve a rapid ROI.

Activate is a proven product already implemented within large organisations such as Air New Zealand, Works Infrastructure and The Auckland District Health Board. The software, which is built on a Microsoft platform, yields the greatest ROI with the lower organizational impact and time to implement.
