Check What You Need If You're Helping Dad Go Digital

Check What You Need If You're Helping Dad Go Digital

Those helping dad go digital for Father's Day are being urged to check what's needed before they go shopping.

"Many dads love watching TV, so an upgrade to digital can be the perfect present, but it's a good idea to make sure you're buying the right equipment," says Going Digital National Manager Greg Harford. "It's good to know you don't need a new TV to go digital.

"Almost any TV can go digital with a set-top box - but you need the right kind of set top box for your aerial or satellite dish, and the equipment your dad needs will depend on where he lives.

"Our www.goingdigital.co.nz website has a tool where you can check coverage and find out what equipment your dad will need. You can also call our team on 0800 838 800 for independent advice.

"With the Hawke's Bay and the West Coast going digital in just over 12 months, many people are helping their families get ready now.

"Almost eight out of ten households in New Zealand have already gone digital. If your Dad has Freeview, Sky or TelstraClear, he is already watching digital television and doesn't need to do anything.

"Digital TV offers better picture and sound quality as well as a greater choice of channels and benefits such as onscreen programme guides."
