Android Malware has Infected Millions of Users
Symantec has discovered a new Android malware threat on the official Android Market called Android.Counterclank. The one to five million combined downloads of the 13 different app titles this malware hides behind indicates just how widespread this mobile malware is.
The malware is a bot-like threat that can receive commands to carry out certain actions, as well as steal information from infected devices. With app titles such as “Counter Strike Ground force,” “Heart Live Wallpaper” and “Sexy Girls Puzzle,” it relies on social engineering to trick users into downloading it.
