Local Company Represents Travel Industry at National Business Support Awards
A local company is the proud travel industry representative among the finalists for AUT Business School's 2013 Excellence in Business Support Awards.
The Auckland outlet of Orbit Corporate Travel, the specialised corporate division of House of Travel, joins four other finalists in the national awards' Large Business Category.
The Director of Business Relations at AUT Business School, Sarah Trotman, says it is a commendable achievement to have made it as a finalist, given that 70 businesses applied for a spot in one of eleven categories nationwide this year.
"These awards are the only national performance measure available to NZ business support organisations, so it's a real triumph to be acknowledged. The organisations that have made it to the top few in each category have shown an impressive amount of support to Kiwi companies, which we're delighted to recognise," she says.
The Managing Director of Orbit Corporate Travel, Brendan Drury, is thrilled the company has been named a finalist.
"The awards are held in high regard throughout the business community, so it means a lot to us. Our position as a finalist is a testament to the pride we take in delivering fantastic customer service," he says.
"We're eager to celebrate the ongoing development of our local economy, and be among those who add value to its growth and success at these awards."
For the Dean of AUT Business School, Dr Geoff Perry, being aligned with the awards provides an important opportunity to build on AUT's existing engagement with the business industry.
"The awards facilitate our ongoing involvement with the changing world of business, while giving organisations the chance to benchmark their performance alongside others in their field," he says.
Gaining a place as a finalist at the awards involved completing an application, which reflects on how effectively an organisation achieves business excellence in all key areas including leadership and planning, customer and market focus, provision of business support, evaluation and improvement, and business results.
The winners of each category will be announced on September 5, at a black-tie gala dinner in Auckland.
