National response on SAS incident

All New Zealanders will be distressed to hear of the serious injuries suffered by three SAS soldiers in a landmine explosion in Afghanistan, says National’s Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Wayne Mapp.

“This incident demonstrates that we ask a great deal of our service people when they are sent into combat, and we acknowledge the sacrifice that they are their families make.

“The serious injuries suffered by these soldiers show that the war against terror, and the need to ensure the security of all our citizens, can be demanding and, sadly, costly,” says Dr Mapp.
