"If you are pro-drugs, you can't be anti-crime," according to Progressive MP Matt Robson.
"Anyone who is pro-drugs should look at our prison population. A very large percentage of prison inmates have an alcohol or drug abuse problem.
"Progressives want safer communities, and safe communities are drug free."
Matt Robson says he differs from the Green Party's support for marijuana and says the Opposition Party should stop wasting taxpayers' money on side-shows like its complaint today to the Commerce Commission.
"Every taxpayer dollar spent on the pointless Commerce Commission inquiry will be a dollar that doesn't get spent cleaning up the mess that drugs cause.
"If the Green Party considered how many young
people can't get jobs because of their marijuana use, I'm
sure they would change their view," Matt Robson
said.
