Governor-General gives assent to Sign Language Bill

Members of the deaf community surround the Governor-General Dame Silvia Cartwright after she gave assent to the New Zealand Sign Language Bill today. The legislation gives people the right to use and access New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) in legal proceedings, including in court.
