Dunne: Labour has a love affair with debt
Labour needs to end its “irresponsible and profligate love affair with debt”, UnitedFuture leader Peter Dunne said today as Labour rolled out its fiscal framework.
“Debt is debt – and if Phil Goff had turned his telly on this morning and looked at the chaos in Greece he might have delayed his funding announcement and had a rethink,” Mr Dunne said
“The numbers he is throwing around in such a cavalier fashion are as if $4 billion were chump change.
“The world is in the midst of a global economic crisis fuelled by debt levels, and Phil Goff says take on more debt.
“This is the last thing Labour should be doing.
“With this kind of thinking, they cannot hold themselves out as competent economic managers,” he said.
