Time To End WTO Farce, Says Dunne
United New Zealand leader, Hon Peter Dunne, is calling for an end to the farce over the leadership of the WTO.
He says that the impasse between Mike Moore and Thailand's Dr Supachai is unlikely to be broken.
"Given this lack of concensus, both candidates end up looking equally stubborn in their determination to stay in the race."
"Ultimately, the reputations of both will suffer."
"Dr Supachai's refusal to stand aside does not justify Mr Moore remaining in the race if he is not going to get the necessary support."
"The current stalemate cannot continue."
"Mr Moore may gain more in the long term by taking the statesmanlike decision to stand aside now, rather than remaining in a race he seems increasingly unlikely to win."
"The WTO, after all, is bigger than the ambitions of any one individual," he says.
