YOUNG NATS PRAISE UPTON
Young Nationals' Chair Daniel Gordon today expressed regret on Simon Upton's announcement yesterday that he will retire from New Zealand Politics in the New Year.
"Mr Upton is regarded as a dynamic MP both internationally and domestically. Simon's insight and intellectual ability will be a great loss to the National caucus and the Policy Committee in the National Party."
"Mr Upton came though the Young Nationals ranks before becoming an MP in 1981 at age 23. We are proud of what he has achieved in his time in Parliament."
"Mr Upton has been an enormous asset to the National Party and will be greatly missed. Young Nationals have enjoyed the support and encouragement Mr Upton has given to the organisation he once led. I am certain we all wish him well in his new position at the OECD."
"We wish both Simon and his family well on his new career choice and in the future," concluded Daniel Gordon.
