Libertarianz Will Not Contest Te Tai Hauauru By-election
Libertarianz Deputy Stephen Berry has ruled out any participation in the Te Tai Hauauru by-election by Libertarianz. It will be a farcical event, he says, contested only by racists making racist offers in a racist electorate.
"Libertarianz has always opposed the existence of the Maori seats," points out Berry. "For any government to uphold such a prime example of separatism is a disgrace in a society where individuals are meant to have equal rights.".
Berry envisions the quality of the by-election campaign will be very low in any case. "We have nothing but a simple racial scabfest to look forward to. With most parliamentary parties reportedly ignoring the event, contenders will likely compete only by promising more of other people's money for Maori."
"The only concern now is the possibility of this being a launching pad for a Maori party. The abolition of the racist Maori seats is a sure way of destroying the electoral chances of such a party. Libertarianz encourages this abolition because it will eliminate an anomaly in power that has been granted to racial extremists over voters of other races. These are gerrymandered seats whose time for extinction has arrived."
