Grey Power
express much concern about the continued amount of serious,
violent crime being committed in New Zealand. In the past
three weeks there has been a home invasion resulting in an
unsolved murder; two Taxi Drivers have been murdered while
they have been working. Our homes and streets are no longer
a safe place while thugs continue to be committing such
violent crime.
We again repeat our call for an urgent review of the Parole system. In a murder trial last week, a man was convicted and sentenced to Life imprisonment for LIFE for the second time. Why was he released on parole? The Judge when sentencing, gave a non-parole time of 21 years. In this case Life should mean Life.
As the Parliament assembles today, we urge all Members to take a very strong stance to put in place tougher measures to help reduce VIOLENCE, along with a big reduction of parole for violent offenders. The National and Act Parties campaigned on this issue and we now ask that they now deliver on their promises urgently.
