Who Said There's No Such Thing As A Free Lunch??!
Food Not Bombs!!
On Saturday 12 September, to remember the events of 9/11 and their underlying causes, we invite all Wellingtonians to join with others to show the United States our values and concerns, by bringing yourselves, your families and some food for a picnic lunch to Katherine Mansefield Memorial Park, opposite the United States Embassy, Thorndon. Food Not Bombs will be there to feed the hungry, and show Obama how it's done.
Don't forget to bring photos, posters, ribbons, flowers, cards etc to tie to the Embassy fence, to remind the U.S. of your existence, your cares, and what you hold important. Whether it's pics of political prisoners, pleas for protection of the planet, ribbons to remember the dead and disappeared, flowers to affirm life, or whatever other way you wish to express yourself, make your peaceful point by transforming a symbol of exclusion into a symbol of community spirit, strength and celebration.
At around 1pm we will leave to join those in Civic Square protesting the cuts to Adult Education.
