NUPE and Ministry of Justice settle pay talks

NUPE and Ministry of Justice settle pay talks

The Ministry of Justice has settled its collective employment agreement with the National Union of Public Employees (NUPE).

“We are pleased to have reached settlement with NUPE over pay talks,” says Tony Fisher, General Manager District Courts.

“Now that the Ministry’s offer has been overwhelmingly accepted by NUPE members we can move ahead together,” he says.

“The Ministry’s offer was a good one given the tough economic context. It recognises the valuable contribution made by NUPE’s members to the justice system,” Mr Fisher says.

“As well as an immediate one-off payment that eligible NUPE members will receive before Christmas, members will also be eligible for a pay rise from 1 July 2010,” he says.

“We are pleased to have concluded negotiations in a timely fashion and to have settled this collective employment agreement.”
