Council Welcomes Employment Law Changes
Food & Grocery Council Welcomes Government Announcement on
Employment Law [NZ Food & Grocery Council]
The Food and
Grocery Council welcomes Prime Minister John Key’s
announcement today of a series of improvements to New
Zealand employment law.
These common sense and moderate amendments will make a positive difference for all New Zealand food and grocery companies, says Food and Grocery Council Chief Executive, Katherine Rich.
In particular, we are pleased to see the extension of the 90 day grievance-free period for all firms.
Many of our members were prohibited from utilising the trial period because of the size of their workforce.
Widening the scope of this policy is a natural progression that will allow employers to create more opportunities for new staff.
