Wood Processors’ Association Congratulates Minister and DBH

The Wood Processors’ Association of New Zealand (WPA) congratulates Minister of Building and Construction, Maurice Williamson, on the release of an overhauled timber treatment regime within the New Zealand Building Code.
The new streamlined treatment regime gives homeowners, builders, merchants and specifiers constructing housing in New Zealand greater clarity that the timber used is fit for purpose.
“WPA has long called for the simplification of the timber supply chain, to ensure that timber remains the product of choice for New Zealanders building residential structures” said Dr Jon Tanner, CEO of WPA.
“Alongside improvements in building practice, these changes will ensure that homeowners are protecting their investment with a world-leading treatment regime.
“We are proud to have worked as part of the pan-industry body alongside DBH on the matter, and are pleased to have a result that Government and the industry can be proud of.”
The new rules are set to be fully phased in by 1 July.
