Sleepover wages bill
Press Release
Grey Power welcomes Parliament’s decision to pass the Sleepover Wages (Settlement) Bill yesterday.
This new Act will resolve the dispute over
payment for carers who are required to sleepover and provide
care when needed.
Such care is provided for many
vulnerable people who live in community care homes and rely
on the support of a carer for their continued
wellbeing.
We hope that the wages (stated to be the minimum wage) will be lifted when the economic situation improves, in recognition of the valuable work provided by the carers to our communities.
