Strategic
council alliance PR appalling timing
“The so-called strategic alliance being signed by upper North Island councils today in Auckland is very poor timing, unnecessary, and a costly PR exercise,” says Auckland Councillor Cameron Brewer.
“We’ve already got very strong relationships with each other. All these councils are members of Local Government New Zealand, the Mayoral Taskforce For Jobs, and are constantly meeting and working with each other.
“Signing a piece of paper is just not needed, and the timing of this PR fluff is just appalling.
“I would’ve thought these councils had more important
things to do when you consider we’re at the critical part
of the Rugby World Cup and the Bay of Plenty is facing an
unprecedented oil spill,” says Cameron
Brewer.
