http://www.broadband.govt.nz was launched by the Ministry of Economic Development today, so you can find out exactly what type of faster broadband is coming to you.

Faster broadband is being rolled out across New Zealand, through the Rural Broadband Initiative and the Ultra-Fast Broadband Initiative.

It will provide opportunities for businesses to work in new ways, for schools to connect students to resources around the globe, and for specialist medical expertise to be available in more places through technology like high-definition video conferencing http://www.broadband.govt.nz brings together in one place information on the broadband initiatives, benefits for particular users, and activity already underway to make use of faster broadband.

This includes information for:
* Businesses
* Schools and their communities
* Healthcare providers
* MÄori
* Rural areas
* Local government.

Find out what's being planned and how you can benefit, and use the handy broadband finder to find out what type of faster broadband is coming to you. Under Ultra-Fast Broadband, 75% of all New Zealanders will have access to broadband speeds that are 10 times faster by 2019.

Faster broadband is already being rolled out across New Zealand and some priority areas, like businesses and greenfield developments, will have access to Ultra-Fast Broadband sooner. Rural Broadband will be rolled out to 86% of rural houses and businesses by 2017.

A mixture of Rural Broadband and Ultra-Fast Broadband will connect 97.7% of schools with access to faster broadband by 2016. The 60 remaining schools that are located in very remote places will have access to improved terrestrial or satellite wireless broadband services.
