Jim Butterworth
Jim Butterworth
Jim Butterworth was the elder statesman of our great union. He served to protect and advance the interests of New Zealand working people over many years of union organising and leadership.
Jim led the northern region of the Engineers’ Union through the years of economic deregulation, business change and anti-worker legislation. His leadership helped steer our union through a confrontational anti-union political environment.
Jim Butterworth was a passionate advocate for the standing and dignity of working people in capitalist society. He has been an inspiration for current EPMU leadership.
Solidarity to Jim, and condolences to Christine and Ruby, from the National Executive and all members and staff of the EPMU.
