The Investiture Ceremony for Mrs. Adrienne Lee Staples of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette
On 30th of June 2017, the investiture ceremony was held at the Ambassador’s official residence for Mrs Adrienne Lee Staples, who has been awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette from His Majesty the Emperor of Japan in the 2017 Spring Decorations. Mrs Staples, Councillor for the Greater Wellington Regional Council representing the Wairarapa Region, is the former Mayor of South Wairarapa. This award recognizes her significant contribution in promoting cordial ties and mutual understanding between Japan and New Zealand.
At the ceremony, Ambassador Toshihisa Takata expressed his gratitude for Mrs Staples’s longtime dedication on behalf of the Government of Japan and conferred the Order and its Patent of Decoration to her. In reply, Mrs Staples expressed her joy upon receiving this decoration as well as her heartfelt gratitude to those who have supported her.
