Jamie Arbuckle Says Container Return Scheme Will End Producers' 'free Pass'
Promoting his Private Member's Bill to introduce a drinks' Container Return Scheme for New Zealand today, NZ First MP Jamie Arbuckle says “More than 2 billion beverage containers are used by kiwis every year and far too many end up in our rivers, beaches, and landfills. Ratepayers have been footing the bill for decades while producers get a free pass.”
Zero Waste Aotearoa agree and are pleased Jamie Arbuckle is giving a Container Return Scheme for New Zealand a clear champion in Parliament.
As a Private Members' Bill, the Bill goes into the ballot system and would go into Parliament for a first reading if it is drawn from the 'biscuit tin'.
