Anti-GE group - winning friends in 2003
The Auckland mothers group opposed to genetic engineering have joined in the competition among anti-GE groups to see who can make the most outrageous statement.
“The rhetoric gets more extreme every day. Maybe they are getting frustrated at the lack of media coverage they’re getting but to slag off everyone in sight seems to be somewhat over the top,” says Life Sciences Network Chairman, Dr William Rolleston.
“Now they have belittlingly compared the hardworking
officials at the Environmental Risk Management Authority
with retired working dogs, scientists with the honourable
profession of farm workers and politicians with people their
mothers wouldn’t recognise! How do they expect to win
friends and influence
people?”
