3 Things You Can Do Today To Build Your Business

3 Things You Can Do Today To Build Your Business

Growing your business during a recession can be challenging, especially if the resources available to you are limited. Small business owner Anita Fleming shares some simple and cost effective ways for local businesses to get noticed in a shrunken market.

1. Embrace Social Media: A must do for businesses in this century! Harness it to your advantage. If you don’t know how, find out. Social Media done correctly can potentially grow your business more cheaply and effectively than any other channel. If nothing else, schedule time each day (20 – 30 minutes) to get the ball rolling. Try LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and Google+ for starters.

2. Rekindle Old Relationships: The economy has changed so much, and so have the people you were connected to three years ago. Peers, colleagues and alliances you lost touch with won’t have forgotten your familiar face, and may now be in a position with budget and influence – and they may want what you are offering. Send them a compelling email asking to reconnect, and make it worth their while.

3. Make Sure People Can Find You. Your business must feature everywhere your target audience goes when looking for your products and services. Google your own business. Get external feedback on how easy it is to find you. Every business should be listed on at least a dozen free directories. Get yourself under the nose of your prospects, and make it easy for them to communicate with your team.
