Manukau Tourism Figures Rising
Manukau Tourism Figures Rising
The total number of guest nights within Manukau rose by 8% for the quarterly period March 2005-May 2005(179,433 v 165,892) compared to the corresponding period in 2004, according to Statistics New Zealand.
This rise has been partially attributed to the TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre, which opened in April 2005.
The centre is creating a demand for overnight accommodation and raising the profile of Manukau as a destination for business and pleasure, generating income to the Manukau economy.
The launch of the new Manukau Tourism website; www.welcome2manukau.com this year has given visitors and residents more information on the range of activities and experiences available in Manukau.
Information is searchable by category and tourism operators can update their own information at any time, with pictures, special offers, directions and links to their own website.
