Timeline extended for feedback on Urban Design
Timeline extended for feedback on Urban Design Framework
ROTORUA 21.09.10: Local residents
have been given an extra month to provide feedback to
Rotorua District Council’s (RDC) Urban Design Framework
following increased interest in the future look of the city
centre.
People now have until Friday 15 October to put forward their ideas on the city’s direction for new and existing developments.
Urban Design Framework displays at the RDC Civic Centre, Library and City Focus, and a recent public open day have been popular, with council receiving around 30 responses before the original 17 September deadline.
RDC chief executive Peter Guerin says he is delighted with the interest the framework has garnered from a broad cross section of the community, and agreed to extend the deadline following numerous requests from the community.
“While the document does a good job of simplifying some complex urban design concepts I agree there’s a lot to take in.
“It’s pleasing that locals have taken the
time to fill in the questionnaires. We’ve also received
quite detailed letters from some individuals and business
owners.
“A number of government agencies,
consultants and Te Arawa Lakes Trust have also provided
formal input into the process.”
Displays will remain at RDC Civic Centre, Library and City Focus until 15 October, before RDC summarises all feedback, for presentation to the mayor and councillors later in the year. The framework is also available on RDC website www.rdc.govt.nz
