Amber Alert Wind Warning For Auckland Harbour Bridge
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) is urging drivers to take extra care on the Auckland Harbour Bridge, with an amber alert in place from midday to 4pm today (Tuesday 29 July).
Wind gusts on the bridge are forecast to reach 90km/h - 95km/hr this afternoon.
The bridge will move to 4x4 configuration later this morning, which may remain in place during the evening peak if the amber alert is extended.
Motorists are urged to drive to the conditions, look out for the electronic message boards which will indicate any lane closures or speed limit reductions, and stay within their lane while travelling across the bridge.
Drivers of high sided vehicles and motorcyclists are advised to avoid the Auckland Harbour Bridge and use the western ring route on State Highways 16 and 18.
