State Highway 1 North Of Chch Busy With Important Maintenance
Road users travelling on State Highway 1 north of Christchurch should be aware of a series of roadworks underway or starting soon which may affect their journeys.
Work at multiple sites for activities such as road resealing may mean delays due to stop/go traffic management and temporary speed reductions. This important and necessary work is to maintain the highway network for all users.
It includes traffic lane shifts from today for road investigations at the approaches to the Pegasus roundabout on State Highway 1, just north of Christchurch. Road users will need to follow the directions of signage on-site.
People are encouraged to allow up to 40 minutes’ extra driving time for a journey between Christchurch and Picton this month.
People can stay up to date on the work and traffic impacts on the state highways at our Journey Planner site, but New Zealand Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is now also issuing weekly updates on the state highway maintenance programmes.
You can view these and subscribe to the weekly updates by visiting the Canterbury programme site, and the West Coast programme site.
