New Zealand Content Counts Education Awards 2016

Media release: 27 October 2016.

Finalists showcase strength of locally created educational resources

The New Zealand Content Counts Education Awards celebrate the quality and diversity of educational resources released in the past year by New Zealand companies to support classroom learning. The awards recognise the standout contributions made by New Zealand resource providers in both New Zealand classrooms and overseas.

The variety of entries to the awards this year highlights the quality and innovative contributions that New Zealand home-grown resources can offer the education space. While determining the finalists, the judges recognised the energy and effort invested by our local publishers into developing resources that support our teachers in their classroom. The judges further praised all entries for their usefulness in the classroom supporting teachers in their work with students.

The educational publishing industry not only contributes significantly to learning in this country but is also an important contributor to employment and GDP. A recent PwC report* valued the New Zealand publishing industry total impact on gross domestic product at $308 million, attributing $69 million of this to educational publishing.
