NZ First Accuses National Of Deserting Wellington
National has just officially abandoned the people of Wellington, the New Zealand First Leader, Winston Peters, said today.
This follows the announcement that National will not be standing a candidate in Wellington Central, and National’s earlier decision not to stand in Ohariu-Belmont.
“We revealed weeks ago that National was going to stand aside in Wellington Central in order to save its ACT hanger on, Richard Prebble.
“This is why the Government has arranged for a new hospital to go into Newtown without making proper studies of the alternative site at Porirua.
“ACT has pulled out of Tauranga, and another deal is being done behind closed doors between National and ACT in Epsom.
“These parties should realise
that the people of New Zealand
want to select the next
Government. They don’t want these back room deals in which
political parties organise the outcome of elections,” said
Mr Peters.
