Bus company should end lock out

MEDIA RELEASE

24 November 2008

Bus company should end lock out

“Go Bus should immediately end its lockout and come back to the negotiating table,” Council of Trade Unions president Helen Kelly said.

The Council of Trade Unions today criticised Go Bus for its lockout of 50 Hamilton bus drivers.

“Like their counterparts in Wellington, we are seeing increased employer hostility against low paid workers from a New Zealand bus company.”

“The company is offering a pay increase that simply doesn’t address the low wages these drivers are paid.”

Helen Kelly said that she hoped the parties would be able to get back into negotiations shortly to resolve the dispute, and called on the company to end the lockout.
