Meet the candidates

Meet the candidates

In the lead up to Auckland’s 2013 local body elections, PACIFICA Manukau branch is hosting a special event for the community to meet a range of candidates.

“Pasifika Breakfast with the Candidates” will be held at AUT Manukau Campus on Saturday 24 August from 9am-12pm.

National President of PACIFICA Inc, Tagaloatele Prof Peggy Fairbairn-Dunlop said that “the event organised by the Manukau branch compliments the group’s objectives to support and encourage participation of Pasifika women at the political level.”

Speakers include Mayoral candidates, the incumbent, His Worship Tāua’aletoa Mayor Len Brown, Uesifili Unasa, John Palino and John Minto. Other speakers include candidates standing for local community boards: Tupou Manapouri, Sailauama Cheryl Brown-Talamaivao, Amelia Schaaf, Poutoa Papalii, Tagaloa Willie Maea, Lydia Sosene and Sina Aiolupotea-Aiono.

“It’s a great opportunity for our communities to engage with the candidates and have an open dialogue on what they stand for and how they will deliver to our communities.”

“Also, the event aims to highlight the importance of participating in the local body elections and ensuring your vote counts. I congratulate all candidates standing and wish them all the best,” said Tagaloatele Prof Peggy Fairbairn-Dunlop.
