Iconic New Zealand stationery manufacturer, Croxley Stationery Ltd, is committed to bargaining in good faith and is urging the Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union (EPMU) to put down their pickets and come back to the negotiating table.
The negotiation has currently reached a stalemate after eight months of talks.
Croxley Stationery is committed to maintaining an operating environment where it can remain competitive and maximise employment opportunities for the future.
As a proud New Zealand-based manufacturer, Croxley is fighting for survival in the toughest operating environment it has ever faced.
Joe Naus, Managing Director of Croxley Stationery says: “We are strongly committed to manufacturing in New Zealand and are determined to protect as many jobs as we can while ensuring the long term viability of our operations in New Zealand.
“The ongoing viability of the Avondale site is very much dependent on the outcome of these negotiations, so the bargaining process for the collective agreement will need to address this certainty.”
Mr Naus says the economic reality is that they are competing with imported product produced at lower cost, which has demanded a review of the Union’s collective agreement and a streamlining of the business. However, he says the company remains strongly committed to New Zealand manufacturing.
Mr Naus says that to remain viable in New Zealand, efficiency is critical, in every aspect of the business.
“We are determined to protect as many jobs as we can while ensuring the long-term viability of our operations in New Zealand.
“Croxley’s goal is to remain a New Zealand-based manufacturer.
Croxley is a New Zealand brand, with a 100-year history in New Zealand. Being New Zealand-made is part of our point of difference and we don’t want to lose this,” added Mr Naus.
