Residential sites previously used for horticulture
There will be a detailed press briefing at 11.30am tomorrow (Tuesday 2 November) to address the issue of residential sites previously used for horticulture.
The briefing will hear from the Mayor of Auckland, Mr Dick Hubbard, and the manager of city planning, Mr John Duthie.
The historical background to the issue will be explained and a map showing horticultural sites in 1940, overlaid on an up-to-date map of the developed isthmus, will be available.
Letters to owners of potentially affected properties will be posted this week. The letter will explain the background to the situation and offer advice to owners.
This information is in the process of being compiled across several council departments. Accurately identifying the potentially affected sites is a lengthy process involving complex computer analysis to ensure a reliable assessment.
The briefing will be held in the Mayoral meeting room, Level 1, Town Hall, Queen Street (entrance under the clock tower).
