Messaging Becomes Even More Fun!

Staying in touch with friends and family just got a whole lot more fun, with Telecom and Vodafone customers now able to send photo and video messages and sound to each other over their mobiles between networks.

Vodafone and Telecom today announced the new service between their networks, the result of a recently-signed commercial agreement.

Vodafone PXT™ or Telecom Photo Messaging enables customers to create, send and receive messages containing colour video messages, or photos with sounds and voice recordings from mobile to mobile.

Vodafone General Manager Consumer Marketing Larrie Moore said the move was great news for customers, who were enthusiastically adopting video and pxt or photo messaging as a fun, rich and compelling way to communicate.

Moore said he expected PXT volumes to lift significantly in light of the deal, mirroring the explosion in txt messaging that occurred when txting between Telecom and Vodafone was introduced in 2001.

Telecom Head of Mobile Marketing Kevin Bowler said Multimedia Messaging, photo and video, is a great way of capturing the moment with family and friends instantly. The possibilities are endless. Whether you're at the beach, at a concert, or in the middle of a huge party, you can share the moment. It’s also an effective business tool for illustration and clarification.

Telecom is expecting a big increase in the number of customers who use Photo Messaging following this announcement today.

The two companies said they were pleased to be able to offer customers more choice and flexibility in how they communicated to friends, family and colleagues.
