Getting Hot And Spicy At Whitby’s Restaurant

Getting Hot And Spicy At Whitby’s Restaurant

Whitby’s Restaurant at the James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor launches the Sri Lankan Food Festival on the 16th of June 2011. The delicious, spicy flavours of Sri Lanka will be show cased alongside our buffet favourites, just in time to beat the winter chill!

Guest Chef, Delgolla Ruwan, has been working with Executive Chef Charles de Villiers to create a snapshot of the tastes of Sri Lanka on the famous Whitby’s buffet. There will be a variety of traditional curries on offer, as well as customary soups, salads and rice dishes and an extensive dessert selection. There is also a live cooking station where you can watch your Appam (filled rice flour pancakes) being made.

The Sri Lankan Food Festival, running until the 3rd of July at Whitby’s Restaurant (on level 17 of the hotel), is one of six International Food Festivals taking place over the course of the year. Customers dining at Whitby’s can collect stamps in their “Passport” to go in the December draw to win a trip for two to Malaysia, sponsored by Malaysia Airlines*.

Steve Martin, General Manager of the James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor says, “The community response to our International Food Festival series has been great and there is a lot of excitement about our year long competition culminating in a draw for a trip for two to Malaysia.”
