Homeowners grab $575 heat pump water heater grants
Demand for government heat pump water heater grants has exceeded expectations, according to Econergy Limited, manufacturer of the Consumer award winning HP4000LT heat pump water heater.
Homeowners have been able to access a $575 EECA Energywise grant for installing an Econergy heat pump water heater in their homes since February of this year.
“Demand for the grants has exceeded expectations” says Econergy Managing Director David Senn, having used their 2010/11 allocation up by 20th July. New allocations have now been made by EECA and are available, but only on a first-in first served basis. “At the current rate of uptake, we are expecting this fiscal year’s allocation to be used up by November of this year, so would encourage interested parties to make expressions of interest at an early stage”.
Heat pump water heaters work by moving heat from ambient air into a hot water cylinder, allowing efficiencies over 300% to be achieved compared with the standard immersion element which is only 100% efficient. Heat Pump Water Heaters have the potential to allow widespread energy savings & reduction in the national grid load, being retrofit table to the majority of New Zealand homes.
