Having fun Mountain Lockers Banked Slalom FIS ski races

Having FUN

It has been a real famine or feast situation since opening and it has continued right through the School holidays. The weather in the last week has cooled off, bringing new snow but also some VERY cold temperatures and winds which have affected the Saddle particularly.

Today in the Saddle we have been on wind hold but opened again this afternoon with great powdery pockets. Despite the queues the great skiing all over the Home Basin means there is more than enough space for everyone to enjoy.

If you want to catch up on the weeks highlights on video including TC cats Birthday, snowboarding, ice sculpture, skiing and candid comments check out the first weeks 'Snow Stories'. [http://vimeo.com/26869853]

Finally, over last weekend we managed to get more carparking opened up down the road which has improved access but we still would stress carpooling is a great thing to do. If we all do it we end up that bit closer to the base area, we meet interesting and new people and while Wanaka struggles to receive petrol we ensure enough left in the tank to go skiing tomorrow.

Mountain Lockers

Looking ahead to next year we are interested to know your thoughts on having mountain lockers. Would you use them and would you be happy to pay for them? If you have time we would appreciate you clicking on one of the buttons below to let us know by heading to http://www.facebook.com/treblecone.

This will be held tomorrow in the Gun Barrel and once again promises to be a real leg burner. The snow conditions allow the course to run down through the chicane below the Day Lodge. Best of two runs count and fantastic prizes including a snowboard, cash, eyewear, clothing. Be in to win and have a great day!

FIS ski race series

Looking ahead to next week the Thursday/Friday will see the Wanaka FIS ski racing series on with a Slalom and Giant Slalom. A large field is expected both from the local Wanaka and Queenstown based NZ ski racers and the many international racers and bteams currently training in the area. The Markby and Raffills trophies will be awarded to the overall Men's and Women's racers.

Cheers and look forward to getting up the mountain this season!
