Kaka Release At Mt Bruce Wildlife Centre
Associate Conservation Minister Phillida Bunkle and tangata whenua will release kaka at Mt Bruce National Wildlife Centre tomorrow.
The kaka release programme was the first successful re-introduction of a native bird into mainland New Zealand, and acted as a forerunner to the mainland release of the Little Spotted Kiwi earlier this year. The kaka release programme is at the stage where additional birds are ready to be released into the forest.
